Izuno's fist continued on its path towards Kana's chest, until Izuno caught glimpse of a projectile moving in towards him. The projectile was most likely thrown to intercept the path of his punch, but that wasn't going to happen. He was too experienced to be thrown off by a simple attack. With his free hand he quickly swiped the shuriken across the flat side to knock it out of the air. His precise timing was enough to allow his right hand to successfully connect with Kana and send her dropping onto the floor. Without hesitation, he quickly grabbed onto her. The flames that were closing in on him now being blocked by a tremendous overflow of water. Together, the forces created steam, an excellent cover for Izuno. He moved for higher ground to avoid the waves below and stayed hidden within the steam, holding onto Kana's unconscious body. Now for the next step in the escape plan: Use the hostage. The Uchiha drew a kunai from his equipment pouch and held it to the girl's neck. He wasn't going to kill her but hopefully the bluff would work. "Now you're going to let us escape or she dies....." As the steam cloud cleared they'd see him pressing the sharp edge of the kunai against her jugular.
